To craft a better pickaxe in Terraria, you gotta hit the underground and start mining for better ores. First, you'll need a basic pickaxe, which you probably have from the start. As you explore, look for Copper or Tin Ore, then Iron or Lead Ore, and smelt these in a Furnace to get bars. Once you have enough bars, you can use an Anvil to craft your new, shinier, and better pickaxe. Don't forget, some of the really good stuff requires you to defeat bosses and mine special ores!

Honestly, the best tip I got for making a superior pickaxe in Terraria is to focus on defeating bosses. Some of the best pickaxes, like the Molten Pickaxe which can mine Hellstone, require resources like Hellstone bars that you can only access after taking down certain bosses. So, gear up, defeat those bosses, mine the special ores, and craft away!
