How to Deactivate Instagram Account
To deactivate your Instagram account, head to the Instagram website on a web browser (sorry, can't do this in the app), log in, go to your profile, click on 'Edit Profile', and then select 'Temporarily disable my account' at the bottom of the page. Follow the prompts, and you're done!

I recently had to do this myself. Make sure you're logged in on the Instagram website, go to 'Edit Profile', and hit that 'Temporarily disable my account' button. Easy peasy!
