Been there, tried that! You can only remove the user profile from the console, but to delete the PSN account, you gotta reach out to Sony.

Sorry, but you actually can't delete a PSN account directly from the PS3. You'll need to contact Sony's customer support to get it done.

Just a heads-up: you can't delete your PlayStation Network account on the PS3 console. You'll have to do it through Sony's official support.

Contact Sony support. That's the only way to permanently delete a PSN account. Sadly, no in-console options.
