I did this last week! Open the Facebook app, tap on the menu (three lines), go to 'Settings & Privacy,' then 'Settings.' Scroll to 'Your Facebook Information' and tap 'Account Ownership and Control,' then 'Deactivation and Deletion.' Select 'Permanently delete account,' and confirm. Simple as that!
