On WhatsApp, go to the 'Chats' tab, open a chat with the contact you want to delete, tap on their name at the top, then tap the three dots in the top right corner, and choose 'View in address book.' Delete the contact in your phone’s address book, and boom, they’re gone.
From personal experience, I can tell you it’s all about your phone’s contact list. Remove the contact there, and WhatsApp will update automatically!
Honestly, just delete the contact from your phone and WhatsApp will take care of the rest.
