To tear down a wall in Terraria, you'll need a hammer or any tool with a hammering function. Just start swinging at the wall you want to remove. Remember, you have to start from the edge of the wall or a section that's already exposed. Can't just smash the middle of a connected wall and expect it to work!

Simple and short: Get a hammer, hit the edges, watch the wall crumble.

You'll need a hammer, BUT not all walls are player-removable. Some background walls, especially those in the world's initial spawn area, can't be destroyed without using certain tricks or tools beyond the basic hammer.

Actually, from personal experience, if you鈥檙e trying to clear a large area of wall quickly, the best thing to do is upgrade to a stronger hammer as soon as you can. The higher the hammer's power, the faster you'll tear through those walls. Made redecorating my underground lair a breeze.
