You can't just go smashing dungeon walls right off the bat in Terraria. First, you gotta defeat Skeletron, the guardian of the Dungeon's entrance. Only after that epic showdown can you even think about breaking those walls. And even then, you'll need a hammer of Pwnhammer strength or better. Remember, dungeon walls near the surface can't be broken to prevent cheesing your way into the dungeon, so dive deep!

lol, good luck breaking dungeon walls without taking down Skeletron first. Beat him, grab a strong hammer, and then maybe we'll talk. Until then, keep dreaming.

Nope, can't do it. Not until Skeletron is history. After you beat him, then it's hammer time. But not any hammer will do; we're talking Pwnhammer level power here. So, easy on the dreams of redecorating the dungeon until you've earned your stripes.
