Spotting the difference can be tricky but here's a quick guide! Real Pokemon cards have a certain gloss on the front and are matte on the back. Fake cards often miss this detail and might be glossy or matte on both sides. The color is also a dead giveaway; real cards have vibrant, true-to-color artwork, whereas fakes can appear washed out. Don't forget to check the edges; real Pokemon cards have clean, sharp cuts. If the edges are rough or uneven, you might be looking at a fake. Lastly, the texture of the card can tell you a lot; authentic cards have a subtle layering of paper that you can feel, especially around the character box.

Honestly, the easiest test? If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. You won't find rare, high-value cards being sold for pennies.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
