Just play smart! Not every deck relies heavily on Abilities, so sometimes the best strategy is building a setup that doesn't get crippled if your opponent starts disabling your Pokémon's special tricks.

A simple answer? Hex Maniac. This Supporter card (before it got banned in some formats) would shut down all Abilities until the end of your opponent's turn when you play it. Though not usable in all formats anymore, it's a classic move in matches where it's legal.

You can disable abilities in Pokemon TCG by using cards with specific effects that silence or negate abilities. Look for Trainer cards or Pokémon with abilities that specifically mention disabling or ignoring the abilities of your opponent's Pokémon. Some cards like Garbodor from the BREAKpoint expansion have an Ability called "Garbotoxin" which, when it has a Pokémon Tool attached to it, nullifies all other Abilities on the field. Always keep an eye out for these game-changers in your deck!

Don't rely on abilities too much. Some players build their whole strategy around them and then crumble when faced with a counter. Mix it up!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
