You can't disable auto-download for certain contacts. You can only adjust auto-download settings for all media types.
From my experience, you can't set auto-download preferences for individual contacts. You have to manage it globally in settings.
Unfortunately, you can't disable auto-download for specific contacts. Consider muting their notifications instead!
