How to Disable Compatibility Mode on Steam
PleasingSkip·7 months agoJust a heads up, sometimes settings can be stubborn. If the first fix doesn’t stick, dive into the Steam installation folder, right-click the Steam.exe, and repeat the process. Compatibility mode can be sneaky, so make sure it’s not enabled on any shortcut you use to open Steam too!

Compatibility mode? More like incompatibility mode when it comes to Steam. Just turn it off in the properties. Easy peasy.
I had this issue last month! Turns out, I had to uncheck compatibility mode for BOTH the shortcut and the actual Steam.exe within the Steam directory. Double the effort but totally fixed the problem.
Oh, the dreaded compatibility mode message! Don't worry, it's a quick fix. Right-click on the Steam shortcut or exe file, go to Properties > Compatibility tab, and simply uncheck 'Run this program in compatibility mode for.' Apply the changes, and voila, Steam should now run without those compatibility mode hiccups!
