In the settings menu, you can disable mouse lock by switching the 'Shift Lock Switch' to 'Off'. No more accidental toggles!

From my experience, turning off mouse lock in settings is more permanent. Just go to settings -> Shift Lock Switch -> Off. You're welcome!
