You can also right-click PUBG in your Steam library, click 'Properties', and uncheck the 'Enable the Steam Overlay' box on the General tab. Done!

Easy peasy! Just go to Steam > Settings > In-Game > uncheck 'Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game'. You’re set!

From personal experience, disabling the Steam overlay helped my game run smoother. Just head to Steam settings or right-click the game in the library.
