You can totally mute voice chat by going to the game's main menu, selecting 'Options', then 'Audio' and turning 'Voice Chat Volume' all the way down.

Not a fan of the in-game banter? Head to Options, then Audio, and simply set the voice chat volume to zero. Done and done!
