How to Discard Things in Subnautica
There's no trash can, so find a spot where you won't mind the clutter and just drop the items there. I like to use the Safe Shallows for this.

Honestly, just drop stuff anywhere and it'll despawn eventually. No hoarding in Subnautica!
Just open your inventory and drag the item you want to discard out of the inventory screen. It'll drop wherever you are.
I've found it's best to drop unwanted items in deep water. Less likely you'll trip over them later!
You can simply discard items by pressing the assigned button to drop them while in your inventory. Careful where you drop them, though!
