Honestly, I never bother with the FPS counter. The Steam Deck runs most things smoothly enough for me.

Oh, it's super easy to see your FPS on the Steam Deck! Just hit the Steam button to bring up the overlay, head to 'Performance' and there you are! You can toggle an FPS counter to your heart's desire. Pretty handy for seeing how your games are running.
