In Sonic Mania, you can do the Drop Dash! Simply jump, then press and hold the jump button again while in the air. Sonic will dash forward once he hits the ground!

Pro tip: for Tails' burnout, press jump and then quickly tap the jump button again to make him fly. For Knuckles, who needs a burnout when you can glide and climb?
