From personal experience, navigate to Settings & Privacy, then Settings, Your Facebook Information, and finally, Deactivation and Deletion. Choose 'Permanently Delete', follow the steps, and it's bye-bye Facebook!
Just deactivate it and take a break instead. Deleting is too extreme!
I've been there! First, click on the downward arrow in the top-right, go to Settings & Privacy, then to Your Facebook Information. Under 'Deactivation and Deletion', choose 'Permanently Delete Account' and confirm.
