As someone who went off the social grid last year, just navigate to Settings, then Your Facebook Information, and then select Permanently Delete Account.
Just head to https://www.facebook.com/help/delete_account and follow the steps there to permanently delete your account.
Deleting your account is a mistake. Just think of all the cat videos you'll miss!
