Honestly, though, who uses local play anymore? Online play is where it's at, so much more to explore with people from all around the world. But yeah, for local, just follow the steps others mentioned.

Local play in Animal Crossing is super easy and a fun way to visit your friends' islands! First, make sure both your Nintendo Switch systems are close to each other. Then, one of you needs to open your gate at the airport in your Animal Crossing game by talking to Orville and selecting 'I want visitors.' Choose 'via local play,' and your island will be open for friends nearby. The other player should then talk to Orville, choose 'I wanna fly,' and then 'I wanna visit someone.' Select 'via local play,' and it should find the open island. Easy peasy!

If you're an Animal Crossing player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Nintendo eShop gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
