If you want to play with friends, go to 'Friends' in the lobby, and you can join their game or invite them to yours. Splatoon 2 also has 'Salmon Run' which is a co-op mode you might enjoy!
It's super easy! Just head to the lobby area in Inkopolis Plaza (or Inkopolis Square for Splatoon 2), and select 'Lobby'. Then, choose 'Regular Battle' for Turf War or 'Ranked Battle' for more intense matches.
Honestly, you can't beat local multiplayer with your friends through a LAN party or split-screen options. It's the best way to splatter some ink together!
