Just outrun it. If you're fast enough, the ESF can't reach you. Simple as that.

Honestly, best trick I found is to drift right before an ESF attack. It has saved my bacon plenty of times.

From my experience, keeping a close eye on when the ESF is about to strike and then making a sharp turn usually works.
