Download the update file from the official PlayStation website and save it as 'PS4UPDATE.PUP' in the 'UPDATE' folder. 4. Plug the USB drive into your PS4, go to Settings > System Software Update, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Download the update from the PlayStation website directly to your USB stick. Make sure to follow the folder structure 'PS4/UPDATE' and save the file as 'PS4UPDATE.PUP'.
Personal experience here: make sure your USB drive is in FAT32 or exFAT format or the PS4 won't recognize it. I learned that the hard way!
