Just scribble lightly and call it a day. Steam's not that complicated. Make it look wavy and you're golden.

Drawing steam is all about capturing its ethereal and flowing nature. Start with soft, light pencil strokes or fine lines if you're working digitally. Think of steam as a series of semi-transparent, wavy lines that rise and spread out. The key is subtlety; use a very light touch. Add some gradient shading or subtle color changes from the base to suggest the steam's temperature and movement. Remember, less is more when drawing steam; you want to imply its presence without overpowering the rest of your artwork.

From personal experience, blending is your friend when it comes to drawing steam. I start with light pencil lines to get the basic shape. Then, I use a blending stump to soften the edges and make it look more like steam is spreading into the air. Layering is also key; start with the most concentrated part of the steam and work outward with progressively lighter layers. It takes practice, but getting the hang of those soft, diffuse edges makes all the difference.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
