Open your inventory (Tab on PC, whatever button it is on your console). Click on the item you want to drop, and then click 'Drop.' Easy peasy!

Just open the inventory screen and drag the item you want to drop outside the inventory box. It should fall right at your feet, or rather, flippers.

Click on the item in your inventory and press the drop button. If it's not working, make sure you're not inside a base or vehicle!

Why drop items when you can store them in your base storage? But if you really must, just click and drag the item out of your inventory. Problem solved.
