How to Easily Find Sky Islands in Terraria
Meteor shots and a high-velocity gun. Shoot the bullets straight up. If they hit a sky island, they'll bounce back. If they don't, you'll hear them whiz off into the stratosphere. Plus, it's a good excuse to fire off some rounds and maybe scare off a few harpies.

Gravitational potions are your best friend when it comes to finding sky islands in Terraria. Just pop one and reverse gravity to float up and down through the skies - watch out for harpies though! Another trick is to build a really tall tower and then create a horizontal bridge out of platforms. Walk or run across while keeping an eye out above you. Sometimes, you'll spot the bottom of a sky island or the changes in background indicating you're close.
Honestly, just keep jumping! If you get lucky, a harpy might decide you're worth a visit down on the ground, and where there's harpies, there's usually sky islands. Not the most efficient method, but it's got a certain 'adventure' feel to it.
