How to enable Steam Input
Easy peasy! Just go into Steam's Big Picture mode > Settings (the little gear icon) > Controller Settings, and then you'll see a checkbox for 'Steam Input Per-Controller Setting'. Just check that for the controller you're using (like your PS4, Xbox, or whatever floats your boat) and voila, Steam Input is ready to rock and roll for your games. This way, Steam does all the heavy lifting to make sure your controller plays nice with the games you love.

From personal experience, enabling Steam Input saved my gaming life! Some indie game wasn鈥檛 recognizing my controller at all, and after some digging, I turned Steam Input on for my controller in Big Picture mode, and it was like magic. Literally, every button worked perfectly after that. Don't underestimate its power if your controller acts up.
Hot take, but I think it's better to leave Steam Input disabled unless you're having real issues. Most games nowadays play nice with the major controllers without needing Steam to translate. Keep it simple, I say.
