How to Enter the Dungeon in Terraria
To get into the Dungeon in Terraria, you gotta defeat Skeletron first. Head to the Dungeon's entrance at night and chat with the Old Man. Choose to 'Curse' him, and boom, Skeletron boss fight begins. Win the battle, and the Dungeon's doors are wide open for your looting pleasure. Just remember, dive in before beating Skeletron, and you’ll meet a Dungeon Guardian. Spoiler: It's a one-hit KO.

You can't just waltz into the Dungeon. Defeat Skeletron first by talking to the Old Man at the Dungeon entrance at night. Beat him, and you're free to explore. Tried and failed a bunch before I got it right, but oh boy, was it worth it!
