Head to the Microsoft account closure page, sign in with your account, and follow the steps to close your Microsoft account. This will also delete your Xbox Live account, so make sure you’re ready to part with everything linked to it!

Why erase it when you can just let it be? Deleting an Xbox Live account also removes your entire Microsoft account, so think twice!
