Honestly, just use Spelunker Potions. Saves so much time compared to aimlessly digging around.

Farming adamantite in Terraria ain't too tough if you know the drill! First off, smash some demon/crimson altars with the Pwnhammer you get from defeating the Wall of Flesh. This will bless your world with hardmode ores including adamantite. To find adamantite, head to the Underground and Cavern layers; it's more common the deeper you go. Use a Spelunker Potion to make the ores glow, making them easier to spot. Remember, you'll need a Mythril or Orichalcum anvil to craft adamantite gear, and an Adamantite or Titanium Forge to smelt the ore into bars. Happy mining!

Make sure you've got a decent pickaxe before you even think about farming adamantite; you can't mine it with pre-hardmode tools. Learned that the hard way...
