Filling a bottle with water in Terraria is super easy! Just stand near any body of water with the bottle(s) in your inventory. Then, open your inventory, select the bottle, and click on the water. Voila, you've got yourself a water bottle ready for all your crafting needs!
Pro tip: Make sure you're really standing IN or RIGHT NEXT to the water. If you're even a tiny bit too far, it won't work. Learned that the hard way after throwing my bottles around like a madman.
