Your friend code isn't directly available in Splatoon! Just head over to your Nintendo Switch home screen, select your profile icon at the top left, and you'll see "Friend Code" listed in there.

Been playing Splatoon for ages, and when I wanted to add friends, I realized the friend code is only accessible through the Switch's profile settings, not the game itself. So, click on your user icon on the Switch, and there it is!
