Look for the atomic mass (rounded to nearest whole number) and subtract the atomic number. Easy peasy!

Quick tip from a chem lab survivor: Find the atomic number (protons), then round the atomic mass to the nearest whole number and subtract the protons. Works every time!

Just subtract the atomic number from the atomic mass! For example, Carbon has an atomic number of 6 and an atomic mass of 12, so 12 - 6 = 6 neutrons.
