Pro tip: After beating EoW or BoC, if you're impatient, just set up a few NPCs around your base to encourage the Tavern Keeper to spawn nearby. Worked for me!

Simple answer: Beat the Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu, and then wander around your world till you bump into him during daytime. He's not a night owl, for sure.

Finding the Tavern Keeper in Terraria is all about defeating a specific enemy first - the Eater of Worlds or the Brain of Cthulhu, depending on your world's evil biome. Once you've shown either of those bosses who's boss, the Tavern Keeper will randomly spawn somewhere in your world. Keep your eyes peeled while exploring, especially during the day, as he won't spawn at night. Happy hunting!

Honestly, I never bother finding him. Just wait till he randomly appears near your base after you defeat Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu. Less hassle.
