How to Find Valence Electrons with Periodic Table
BackingPeck路2 months agoIt's easy! Just look at the group number for the main-group elements (Groups 1, 2, and 13-18). For example, elements in Group 1 have 1 valence electron, and those in Group 17 have 7. Simple, right?

Remember the main groups: Group 1 has 1 valence electron, Group 2 has 2. Skip the transition metals, then Group 13 has 3, and so on up to Group 18 with 8 valence electrons (except Helium, which has 2).
Just add electrons, count to group number!
Using the Periodic Table to find valence electrons is a breeze. For groups 1 and 2, the group number is the valence electron count. For groups 13-18, subtract 10 from the group number. So, Group 16 has six valence electrons!
