From experience: calculating x = -b/(2a) and then plugging that back into the original equation for y has never failed me.

Just use the vertex formula: x = -b/(2a). Once you have x, plug it back into the equation to find y. Voil脿, you got your vertex (x, y)!

Multiply -1, divide by 2, and plug it into the original equation. Easy peasy!
