Fishing in lava in Terraria isn't your typical cast and wait scenario. First things first, you gotta gear up with the right equipment. You'll need a special lava-proof fishing rod like the Hotline Fishing Hook, which you can snag by completing quests for the Angler NPC. Not easy to get, but totally worth it. Alternatively, if you're not into questing, you can use any fishing rod combined with the Lava Fishing Hook accessory or munch on a Lavaproof Fishing Hook potion to make any spot in the lava a prime fishing location. Remember, you also need lava critters as bait, which you can catch in the underworld using a Bug Net.
