Sometimes just recalibrating the joystick in the settings can solve the problem. Go to System Settings > Devices > Controllers > Adjust Analog Stick and follow the prompts.

Had the same issue! Opened it up, cleaned around the stick with isopropyl alcohol, and it worked like new. Just make sure you don’t lose any screws!
