Make sure you have enough storage space available and close any other apps running in the background. Low storage or too many apps open can cause crashes.
I had the same problem, and turning off background apps worked like a charm. Give it a shot!
Sometimes only a full uninstall and reinstall of the game will do the trick. It's a bit more work, but it's worth it if nothing else works.
