How to Fix PS3 Controller Buttons Not Working
First thing to try is resetting your PS3 controller. There's a tiny reset button on the back near the L2 shoulder button—just use a paperclip or a pin to press it! Hardware gremlins often vanish with this simple fix.

Clean the controller’s internals. Dust and grime can cause buttons to get stuck or not respond. Carefully disassemble the controller, clean it with compressed air and isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab, and then reassemble it. I did this once, and the buttons felt brand new!
It could be a firmware issue. Connect the controller to the PS3, go into settings, and make sure everything is up to date. The right firmware can make all the difference.
Just buy a new controller. If none of the above work, spare yourself the headache and get a new one. Sometimes it’s not worth the struggle!
Sometimes the controller isn't charged enough. Plug it in using a USB cable directly to the PS3 for a bit before testing the buttons again. It’s amazing what a little juice can do!
