Try using a small amount of isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab and gently clean around the buttons. It works like a charm!

I had the same issue with my PS4 controller. Disassembled it and cleaned the buttons with warm soapy water. Make sure everything is dry before reassembling.

Just give it a few good presses! Sometimes, the stickiness goes away on its own. If not, time to clean it.

Compressed air. Blast some into the gaps around the buttons. It clears out the gunk pretty well.
