Simple trick: take a Q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol and clean around the base of the joystick. Sometimes it’s just some pesky dirt causing the issue!

Forget about all the fancy tricks, just grab some canned air and blast around the stick area to remove dust. Worked like a charm for me.

If you're up for it, you can open the controller and check for worn-out potentiometers. This requires a bit more skill, but can fix the issue permanently.

Hot take: Just buy a new controller. Sometimes, time is worth more than the frustration of trying to fix it!

I've fixed mine by recalibrating it through the Xbox Accessories app on my console. It's worth a shot before getting into more complex fixes!

If you're a Xbox player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Xbox gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
