Getting a Mechanical Eye in Terraria is all about that grind: You've gotta either craft it using 6 Lenses, 5 Iron Bars (or Lead Bars), and 3 Souls of Light at a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil, or keep your fingers crossed for a drop when defeating the Wandering Eye or Servant of Cthulhu during a hardmode. Those little baddies don't always drop what you want, so crafting might be your best bet if you're not feeling lucky.
Crafted one last night! Had to farm those Souls of Light for a bit, but it was totally worth it for the Twins fight. Protip: Stock up on Lenses before Hardmode - makes life easier.
