To get a new leader in State of Decay 2, you gotta promote a different survivor to hero status first. Then, go to the community screen, select them, and click 'Promote Leader.' Easy peasy!

Just make sure you've leveled up another survivor to hero status, then you can change leaders from the community screen. Happy surviving!

You need to demote your current leader! Go to the community tab, select them, and choose 'Demote Leader.' Then promote another hero.
