Easiest way? Build Water Purifiers in settlements like Sanctuary. They generate excess purified water that you can grab from your workshop and sell to vendors for a nice sum of caps. Just make sure your defense rating is higher than your resources to keep those pesky raiders away!

Setting up supply lines between your settlements using the Local Leader perk helps a lot. It not only shares resources but can also help in maximizing the cap output from trade and water. Efficiency is key!

Honestly, just pick up everything and sell it. I've made thousands of caps just by selling weapons and armor I loot from raiders. Not as passive as water purifiers, but it definitely adds up!

Settlements? Just explore and loot, way faster. Who has time for micro-managing?

Don't forget about shops! Build various trading stands in your settlements and assign settlers to them. These shops generate caps over time, directly deposited into your workshop inventory. More advanced shops = more caps, so upgrade them when you can.
