Just put down some Brahmin feed troughs in your settlements. Brahmin come, fertilizer follows. Easy peasy.

To get your green thumb on in Fallout 4, you can buy fertilizer from vendors, like the one in Diamond City or Abernathy farm. But if you're feeling a bit more resourceful, you can produce it yourself at your settlements by placing Brahmin feed troughs. Brahmin will show up and start producing fertilizer that you can collect regularly. Another way? Scavenge! Look for bags of fertilizer in garden sheds or hardware stores across the wasteland. Happy farming!

Honestly, scavenging is the real deal. Found more bags of fertilizer lying around in sheds and stores than trying to farm it myself. Plus, you stumble upon all sorts of other useful junk during your scavenger hunts.
