I caught my Gengar by evolving it from a Haunter. You need 100 Gastly candies to evolve Haunter into Gengar. Go get those candies!

Just trade a Haunter with a friend. It will evolve into Gengar right after the trade, no candies needed!

Keep an eye out for special events and raids! Sometimes Gengar makes a ghostly appearance and you can catch it directly!
