To activate Debug Mode in Sonic Mania, go to the main menu, select Mania Mode, and then choose 'No Save'. Navigate to the level select. From there, enter Up, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up, Up, Up with the directional pad, and you'll hear a ring chime! Now you can access debug mode with a simple press of a button during gameplay.

Debug Mode is a blast! Just enter the level select sound test and play songs 01, 09, 07, 09, 00, 06, 02, 03, and you’ll hear a ring sound – you’re in!
