To unlock the & Knuckles mode in Sonic Mania, you just need to grab 25 medallions from the game's Blue Sphere special stages. Enjoy the mayhem of having Knuckles with Knuckles by your side!
Knuckles is available as a playable character right off the bat! Just pick him from the menu when starting a new game.
You can actually choose Knuckles right from the start by selecting his icon on the title screen options. Easy peasy.
Honestly, don't even bother. Just play the game, have fun, & Knuckles will tag along eventually!
