Best method? Complete weekly tasks and goals. They usually reward a nice chunk of LP, especially if you finish all of them in a week. Trust me, worth it.
Work on hobbies! Completing hobby collections can net you a bunch of LP. My personal fave is the Fashion Designer hobby. Plus, your Sims get to look fabulous.
I've had good luck with the Social Point Flower. Though it costs Social Points to spin, you can often win LP as prizes, so it can be a fun gamble!
